A Going Church
How do we know if we are truly a congregation belonging to Christ? Is it the name, which we bear? Is it the day on which we meet? Is it the Book we live by? I want to take the next 10 weeks & explain in some depth what it means to be a “going” church.
As a “going” church, this means we are a congregation on the move. We work understanding that our Lord is coming again & He can come at anytime. Will He find us working according to His will?
The Lord is Jesus Christ & He built the only church in which man can be saved today (Matthew 16:18). When He finds us, will He see in us what He purchased with His blood (Acts 20:28)? It is our hope & prayer that He will.
The reason why I plan to use the next 10 weeks to address this important subject is because there are 10 things I believe the Scriptures highlight in describing what a local church should look like. Some may overlap or there may be more to say, but through it all, the Bible is clear & this article is merely a start to going into a deeper study on this subject. We must be a people of character, service, love, sacrifice, & submission. Nevertheless, what does this speak to? We will talk about the church’s foundation, nature, motive, measure, authority, purpose, tools, privilege, power, & model. If we can understand these items & apply them, then I believe we are well on our way in being all that the Lord has called us to be.
“For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.” 1 Thessalonians 4:7
